The Gulf country has deposited its instrument of acceptance of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies, which is aimed at curbing harmful subsidies that contribute to overfishing and promoting the sustainable management of global marine resources.

During a visit to the Arab country, the Secretary-General of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Mohamad Mourad, met with local businesspeople and government representatives with from the Brazilian embassy in Bahrain.

The Arab country’s GDP grew specially because non-oil activities. The manufacturing sector performed well, as did the financial and insurance sectors, professional, scientific and technical activities, transportation and storage, and information and communication.

The Embassy of Bahrain in Brazil and the Arab-Brazilian Chamber held an event in São Paulo on Thursday (26) as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Arab country and Brazil. The Bahrain Music Band performed with songs from the region.

Brazil is becoming an increasingly important supplier in the Arab beauty market, particularly with hair care products. The region is supplied by companies such as Floractive, specializing in hair treatments, and Terra Fértil, offering hair straighteners and dryers. Light Hair aims to enter the market, too.

Arab countries have offered their solidarity over the tragedy brought about by rainfall in Brazil’s southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul. Argentina and Uruguay have contributed with equipment and personnel. Portugal, the Vatican, Italy, Benin and other countries have sent their condolences to Brazil, too.

On a trip to the Gulf country, the head of the Catholic Church took part in forum for coexistence and urged peoples to put aside arms, protect the environment and overcome differences. On Saturday (5), about 30,000 people attended the service, including Brazilians living in Bahrain.
