São Paulo – To commemorate the Arab Community Day in Brazil, celebrated in March 25, the Institute of Arab-Brazilian Culture (ICAB) will show the documentary “História Dos Bairros de São Paulo – Caixa Mágica: Os Árabes na Região da 25 de Março” [History of São Paulo Neighborhoods – Magic Boxes: Arabs in the 25 de Março Area] (image reproduced above). The movie screening will occur Friday next week (29) in Brasília, Brazil, at Cine ICAB.
The session will be free to enter. The movie deals with the importance of the Arabs who lived and made history with trading at Rua 25 de Março in São Paulo, Brazil. After the 26-minutes documentary, the institute will hold a debate with the Lebanese Zamzam El Eter, who has lived in Brazil for more than 25 years and is a belly dancing teacher at ICAB; and with the Syrian Abdulbari Naser, who has lived in Brazil for over 15 years and is a classic Arabic teacher at the institute.
For the event, the institute also prepares a photo line to show s of Arab families in Brazil. For the project, ICAB invites Arabs and descendants who live in Brazil to participate sending their family photos. The photo line will be exhibited at the institute until the end of Abril. The material will be part of the images collection ICAB is starting to collect.
